Role Summary
The Process Engineer coordinates the set up of processes and projects and monitors equipment suppliers to ensure timelines are met and that all process conflicts and issues are resolved as they arise. The incumbent of this position also supports the implantation of new processes and projects by participating in design reviews and related meetings, the development of pre-production part samples and prototypes and by training other departments in new equipment processes and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Through effective Project Management and knowledge of RFQ process provides accurate and timely set up of assembly process and related costs.
- Monitoring of equipment suppliers to ensure program timelines are met while effectively resolving technical issues and managing conflict/resolution activities.
- Provides input and support to the Program Managers during APQP and in the development of PFMEA’s by participating in design reviews and related meetings.
- Assists in the development of pre-production part samples and prototypes.
- Supports team by training other departments in new equipment process and procedures.
- Weld schedules and Stepper development.
- Supports in the development of SWI’s .
Other Tasks
- Continuously adhere to and apply the Magna Employee’s Charter, the Magna Corporate Constitution, and the Magna Operational Principles in all aspects of position and interaction with others.
- Effective use of Maple’s Escalation Process.
- Compliance to IATF customer requirements
- Attends all scheduled meetings and training.
- Understands and follows established rules, procedures and policies relating to position.
- Ensure a safe working environment by observing safe work practices and by following all safety policies and procedures.

Key Qualifications/Requirements
- Post secondary education in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Technologist and/or minimum 10 years experience in a related field.
- Experience designing and building weld cells in an automotive manufacturing environment is an asset.
- Equipment knowledge to include Welding, Robotics, WTC controls, PLC. CAD knowledge would be an asset.
- Strong aptitude in troubleshooting assembly equipment and quality failures.
- Strong aptitude in all forms of welding
- Ability to read blueprints (mechanical/electrical and part print).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office .
- Good command of the English language both verbal and written.
