TransCanada, based on Barrie, has a thirty-year history as the leader servicing the Ontario market in specialty wood products. Originally the Company was founded as a utility pole supplier but quickly it has grown to be the largest provider of specialty wood products including Douglas Fir, Western Red Cedar, Hemlock and Pine timbers in Ontario. The Company’s breadth of items of inventory is what differentiates TransCanada in the market with over 8,000 active SKUs carried in the 20-acre yard. The Company has grown tremendously over the last 5 years, and we are looking for additional team members to help us grow even further.
JOB SUMMARY
We are currently seeking an experienced Production Coordinator, specializing in Work Order Management to join our growing team in Barrie, Ontario.
In this role, you will play a crucial role in coordinating and optimizing the production workflow. Your primary responsibility will be to create and manage production work orders, shipping documents, ensuring the efficient utilization of resources while meeting customer demands and organizational goals. This position requires a keen understanding of production processes, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate with various departments. The ideal candidate will have experience working within a fast-paced environment and have experience with Epicor software or similar ERP systems. The incumbent has excellent communication skills and works well with all levels of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Your role involves managing production workflows, generating work orders, and ensuring the timely and accurate completion of orders. Collaboration with various departments is crucial to achieving efficiency and meeting customer expectations.
Reporting to the Operations Manager at Trans Canada, the incumbent will be responsible for:
- Manage the scheduling and coordination of outbound shipments of lumber products to customers.
- Manage the Operations Workflow.
- Generate detailed Work Orders, based on order specifications, and manage them through the system.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of work orders.
- Coordinate with customer service to clarify details and resolve discrepancies.
- Generate the shipping documentation.
- Inputting customer orders into the sales platform.
- Collect the needed data to generate department key objectives.
- Maintaining accurate record of incoming inquiries, sales, forms and requests.
- Work closely with quality assurance teams to maintain product quality standards.
- Maintain clear communication channels between different departments.
- Prepare regular reports on operational performance, including key metrics and areas for improvement.
- Communicate with suppliers, customers, and internal teams to address any concerns or inquiries.
- Streamline workflow processes to enhance overall operational effectiveness.
- Keep current with practical knowledge of lumber items, including their uses, advantages, and disadvantages.
- Be familiar with current yard inventory and special-order items.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Proven experience in operations coordination, preferably in the lumber or manufacturing industry.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Operations Management, or a related field.
- Knowledge of Epicor/Biztrack software systems or similar ERP systems is an asset.
- Self-starter who can work in a fast-paced, deadline driven and demanding environment with strong attention to detail.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, prioritization and time management skills.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of lumber industry operations, including production processes and logistics
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: $40,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
