ABB Marine & Ports operates in 26 countries and has 2,000 employees. www.abb.com/marine The Project Manager (PM) oversees all aspects of the project using planning, monitoring and controlling processes. The PM is responsible for co-ordination and completion of the marine and ports service project and to this end will perform a variety of tasks including setting deadlines, assigning responsibilities, and monitoring and summarizing progress of the project. The PM will be responsible for several projects at a time. Typical project size 0.5M to 2MCAD with customers in Canada and US. The following responsibilities indicate some of the key elements of this role, but should not be considered as a complete definition, as there will be tasks that are requested, that are deemed to be reasonably expected as part of this role. The position can be filled 100% remotely.
Your responsibilities
- Manages/leads project team to ensure project success and team spirit.
- Examines new contracts to ensure adherence to terms/conditions and specifications.
- Assesses/Manages project Risks and Opportunities.
- Builds and maintains ABB/Customer relationship / Ensures Customer satisfaction.
- Serves as prime interface with customers and project participants, on all contractual matters and maintains open communication channel with customer.
- Ensures that schedules are met.
- Conducts meetings to exchange information and resolve problems on assigned projects
- Review service reports after services are done and submit them timely to the customer and the global database.
- Manages project budget.
- Generates and/or approves purchase orders.
- Approves invoices, ensuring accurate and timely invoicing.
- Reports opportunities and problems to management.
- Resolves disputes over back charges, delays, warranties, etc.
- Follows up, when necessary, regarding unpaid invoices.
- Determines appropriate revenue recognition.
- Analyzes project profitability, revenue, margins, and other metrics.
- Manages/Reviews change requests, prepares quotes/implement changes, with support from technical and other staff as required.
- Assists sales/account management to generate quotations and proposals, with support as required.
Your background
- High School Diploma or GED and 6 years' marine industry, electrical engineering OR Associate degree and 4 years' marine industry, electrical engineering OR Bachelors' degree and 2 years' industry experience, technical background with electrical engineering.
- Project Manager certified.
- Good sense of urgency to Customer needs / Good Customer relations.
- Very organized person.
- Good in multitasking.
- Able to influence people, building trust and credibility.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Command of the applicable business system.
- Strong understanding of project finance and cost initiatives/Full Cost Model.
- General understanding of Terms and Conditions / Legal.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to negotiate, persuade and influence in relation with our customers and shipyards.
- Experience in Service business related to Marine industry, or Electrical Engineering.
- Experience in SAP tracking service orders, purchase orders and working time.
- High awareness of safety and quality in relation to the projects in the field.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
