Summary: Leverage procurement best practices to create and implement strategies to improve material costs while maintaining established quality standards. Manage suppliers, buyers, and serve as an important member of the plant operations team.
Essential Duties:
- Effectively communicate and collaborate with other departments including Scheduling, Inventory, Quality Assurance, and Manufacturing Operations to maintain adequate material supply to meet the needs of plant operations.
- Coordinate daily purchasing activities to ensure timely issuance and maintenance of purchase orders using SAP.
- Anticipate any challenges or disruptions in supply or quality and provide alternative solutions.
- Collaborate with vendors and ensure adequate procedures are in place to minimize variances and ensure on-time, high-quality material is delivered.
- Analyze QPI’s to support the management of inventory, delivered costs, and schedule adherence.
- Oversee maintenance of current price information; department and supplier product information; supplier contracts, servicing agreements, etc.
- Manage plant purchasing employees to support their continuous growth and development
- Prepare and submit reports as directed
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or 7+ years of experience in a purchasing/buyers position
- 5+ years experience in procurement preferably for a manufacturing business in the building and construction segment
- Demonstrate the previous history of team leadership of indirect or direct reports representing multiple functions and departments.
- Ability to multitask, organize, and prioritize in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and with minimal supervision
- Strong negotiation, communication, and analysis skills
- High level of interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Computer Skills:
- Must be highly proficient in all Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and SAP
Certificates and Licenses:
- CPM, CPSM, APP, or other purchasing credentials
