Bent Arrow Traditional Healing Society is a non-profit organization which provides unique programs and services to Edmonton’s urban Aboriginal population. Our Society was incorporated in Alberta in 1994 assisting Aboriginal children/youth and families in the Greater Edmonton Region.
Responsibilities
- Answering and directing telephone calls, and taking detailed telephone messages
- Phones must be answered at all times
- Greeting and directing walk-ins
- Providing information to the public on the programs & services offered by Bent Arrow
- Typing correspondence and other documents
- Incoming/Outgoing mail, and e-mail
- Place calls for courier service and ensure the billing is reflective of the program
- Receive and distribute faxes, and assist staff and other programs with fax machine and photocopying
- Troubleshoot problems with photocopier and general office equipment
- Ordering office supplies and maintain a monthly inventory of office supplies
- Manage and update the staff in/out board, telephone extension list, mail and message slots
- Ensure program brochures are printed and the brochure board is full at all times
- Update and maintain bulletin board
- Maintain the organization and cleanliness of the utility and photocopy rooms
- Other duties as requested
Qualification Requirements
- A Certificate or Diploma in Office Administration however a combination of education and experience will also be considered
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience required
- Experience working in a non-profit organization is an asset
- Proven ability to handle multiple priorities and ability to prioritize tasks
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Outlook Calendar, Power Point & Excel software applications
- Typing speed, a minimum of 50 per words per minute
- Knowledge of multi-line telephone systems
- Experience with office machinery - i.e. fax machine, photocopiers, etc.;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- Must be self-motivated and able to function in a team environment
- Must provide a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector and Intervention Record Check **PREFERENCE WILL BE GIVEN TO CANDIDATES WITH COMPLETED CRIMINAL RECORD & CHILD INTERVENTION CHECKS.
- Job requires a minimum of one year role in Reception before being able to seek other positions in the organization.

- Paid sick and wellness days after 3 months’ probation (pro-rated)
- Extended Health Benefit (50/50 cost sharing) after 6 months’ employment.
- Working approximately 34.5 hours per week
This position is a permanent position and will be open until suitable candidate is found
