Summary:
Performs an array of functions that may include accepting and processing incoming stock and materials, picking and filling orders from stock, packing orders, or managing, organizing, and retrieving products in the warehouse or yard. Cuts parts on Conventional Saw (bandsaw). Maintains and operates all authorized equipment to perform all jobs.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- MUST HAVE RELIABLE VEHICLE AND VALID LICENSE (NO BUS ROUTE).
- Starting wage $20/hr plus evening shift premium.
- Must be available to work overtime (as needed).
- Matches paperwork with product to ensure accuracy in the order.
- Sorts, packs, crates and packages materials and finished products.
- Operates outside forklift, and overhead crane.
- Identifies, marks, and places materials according to established procedures.
- Sorts metal sheets and parts, scrap metal and other materials.
- Transports raw materials and finished products throughout the plant/yard manually or using powered equipment.
- Updates location of materials.
- Adjusts storage areas according to production and shipping requirements.
- Receives and reviews shop orders, drawings, prints and material lists.
- Determines job/material requirements and sequence/setup required.
- Installs and aligns specified cutting blades or other fixtures in machine bed using gauges, templates, feelers, shims, or hand tools.
- Performs daily inspections on equipment.
- Verifies that equipment is serviceable, and no safety problems exist prior to operation.
- Identifies problems and corrects/reports deficiencies.
- Fabricates first article, inspects, and verifies it conforms to product specification.
- Produces required quantity of parts according to shop order.
- Completes operator assisted maintenance and checklist.
- Maintains records and signs off on all work completed.
- Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
- Co-ordinates work activities with fellow employees, as and where necessary.
- Complies with Safe Work Procedures and ISO Standards.
- Maintains a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Complete 5S requirements for department.
- Identifies and reports any and all unsafe work conditions or situations.
- Recommends measures or actions to improve productivity and product quality.
- May perform other tasks as assigned.
Critical Skills and Abilities
- Experience using a Hydmec band-saw would be an asset.
- Knowledge of decimals and fractions.
- Ability to read tape measure and caliper.
- Experience with Conventional Saw equipment.
- Basic computer skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Planning, organizing, time management, and adaptability.
