Wrapex is currently looking for Journeyman Scaffolders to start immediately for their Satellite team primarily in the Edmonton area. This position is approximately 4/10s. This position may include periodic travel and LOA from time to time.
Job Duties
- Execute industry acceptable building practices using both Tube & Clamp and System Scaffold
- Must be able to mentor and direct apprentices and labourers as required and able to communicate effectively with other trades
- Must be able to follow direction and work with minimal supervision
- Must be in good physical condition and able to work at heights
- Must be able to work safely and follow safe work procedures
Education, Skills, and Responsibilities
- Journeyman certification or Non Ticketed Journeyman preferred; otherwise, must provide proof of hours relevant to scaffolding and previous industrial experience.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety documents, maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and blueprints.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Demonstrate practical problem-solving ability.
- Highly motivated self-starter able to work with minimal supervision or in small teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong hand-eye coordination.
- Climb heights and conduct work with proper safety restraints.
- A high regard for health and safety in the workplace.
- Confident participating in safety meetings, daily toolboxes, and hazard assessments prior to commencing daily work activities.
Job Specific Tasks
- Unloading scaffolding material on site
- Ensuring a stable base for scaffolding
- Erecting scaffolding poles
- Laying planks for workers to walk on
- Fixing guard rails and safety netting
- Dismantling scaffolding when a project is complete
- Comfortable with tube & clamp and system scaffolding techniques.
Working Conditions
- Lift heavy loads up to 50 lbs of materials
- Physical demands; bending, walking, climbing
- Working outside in inclement weather conditions
- Potential exposure to high noise levels and hazards common to industrial plant settings
