School-Aged Child Care Worker

Langley Meadows Community Association (LMCA) is accepting applications for a part-time temporary School Aged Child Care Worker. LMCA operates a licensed School Age Group Child Care facility; all staff members work together to provide excellent supervision and programs for children, while maintaining a safe and fun environment.

The successful applicant will be responsible for supervising children ages 5-11 before and after school, implementing and delivering the activities set by the Program Manager.

TERM: start ASAP, temporary

HOURS OF WORK: 20 hours per week, 2:00pm-6:00pm, additional hours available when school is out

WORK LOCATION: Langley Meadows Community School

COMPENSATION: $23.85 - $25.05/hour, commensurate with education and experience

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be at least 19 years of age
• Grade 12 or equivalent; one year post-secondary training in Child Care or a related field preferred
• Six (6) months recent related experience
• Willing to work both inside and outside in a busy and active setting
• Able to work both independently and as part of a team
• Comfortable with daily interaction and communication with children, other staff members, school employees and parents
• Must have a current Emergency First Aid certificate or be willing to complete
• Must have a valid Responsible Adult certification or be willing to complete
• Must have experience working with, and basic knowledge and understanding of, elementary school aged children
• Ability to perform tasks involving moderate physical activity in working with children, including walking, running, standing, bending, kneeling, and lifting
• Must clear Criminal Record Review for work with children (submitted before hiring)
• Evidence of compliance with the Province’s immunization and tuberculosis control program
