What is the Opportunity?

Senior accountant role supporting the broker dealer Financial Control team on corporate accounting responsibilities, month end close, financial reporting and ad hoc tasks as assigned, in all aspects of finance and accounting functions. Applies experience and seasoned knowledge, skills, and practices to perform a variety of assignments.

What will you do?

  • Assessing financial risk and establish proper infrastructure & processes to ensure financial results are reported completely and accurately and risks are adequately managed.
  • Responsible for managing month end close process for assigned accounts, for Capital Markets and Wealth Management platforms
  • Perform timely Balance Sheet reconciliations and attestations, including review of Standard of Documentation (SODs).
  • Perform and update SOX controls, working with both internal and external auditors
  • Prepare robust variance analysis for assigned accounts working with data providers to document explanations for monthly and quarterly movements
  • Prepare assigned schedules with supporting documents for interim and year-end review by auditors
  • Work with controllers and operations across the organization to clear entries booked to bridge accounts between the subledger and general ledger
  • Prepare and maintain proper supporting documentation for all journal entries processed
  • Help team to assess and implement new accounting standards and policies to enable business partners to make sound decisions; Ensure adherence to accounting requirements and firm policies
  • Document procedures for all tasks and work on continuous process improvements
  • Adhoc responsibilities as assigned by manager and financial control director

What do you need to succeed?

Requirements

  • Knowledge PeopleSoft general ledger preferred
  • CPA is a plus

Must haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting
  • 4 - 6 years general accounting experience
  • Strong analytical / problem solving skills
  • Well organized with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with teams across the firm, including operations, product control, technology, and head office
  • Strong excel skills and aptitude to learning new systems

The good-faith expected salary range for the above position is $80,000 - $130,000 depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate’s experience, skills, registration status; market conditions; and business needs.  This salary range does not include other elements of total compensation, including a discretionary bonus and benefits such as a 401(k) program with company-matching contributions; health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance; and paid time-off plan.
