Role Summary
The Senior Analyst, Canadian Tax is responsible for the reporting and compliance of two or more automotive systems groups. The Senior Analyst, Canadian Tax will work with other tax members to complete the primary responsibilities described and will also support senior members of the Tax Team in dealing with income tax audits, tax research and special projects.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and review federal and provincial income tax returns for the Group, including related working papers
- Prepare and review documentation for foreign affiliate reporting
- Compute tax instalments and ensure payments are made on a timely basis
- Assist with updating ACB, PUC, safe income and foreign affiliate surplus calculations
- Assist with technical research and analyses (Canadian domestic and foreign affiliate issues) for reporting and planning purposes
- Assist with external tax audits
- Tax accounting for quarterly income tax provisions according to US GAAP, including tax estimates for both planning and reporting purposes
- Ensure compliance with internal control policies on tax related matters
- Work closely with group and divisional controllers to build creditable, collaborative and effective working relationships
- Implement and maintain best practices to minimize tax risk
- Carry out all duties in accordance with company’s internal policies and procedures including the company’s Corporate Constitution and Employee Charter
- Support other projects/transactions and carry out other administrative duties, as required
Knowledge and Education
- Recognized accounting designation or MTAX degree
Work Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, primarily working in corporate tax
- Must have a strong desire to pursue a career in corporate tax
- Maintain good standing in the relevant accounting body and continued self-development
Skills and Competencies
- Ability to work effectively both in a team environment and independently
- Strong organization and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
- Effective and efficient written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Advanced Excel skills
- Technologically proficient (Microsoft Suite, etc.)
