Senior Analyst, Internal Controls, Finance

Position Overview

The Financial Reporting Operations team in Finance is currently seeking a Full-time Regular SeniorAnalyst, Internal Controls.

The Senior Analyst, Internal Controls reports to the Manager, Internal Controls.The Senior Analyst, Internal Controls is responsible for documenting and assessing financial risk. This position is accountable to ensure that the university administrative and business processes and objectives are documented and that key controls are identified.

Position Description

Summary of Key Responsibilities:

• Support business process owners in the alignment of their business objectives with their processes.
• Support business process owners in the identification of financial and operational risks and the alignment of Internal Controls (controls as designed) to mitigate those risks.
• Ensuring business process owners understand their key financial and operational controls and that they modify these as risks change.
• Provisioning of a documentation standard, for processes and controls, and custodianship over existing documentation, that meets external audit standards.
• Provisioning of feedback reporting and other mechanisms to process owners over the operating effectiveness of key controls.
• Ensuring the University is compliant with external control documentation and monitoring controls standards.
• Provide business analysis support in system enhancement projects to Business Process Owners and Financial Systems Analysts during requirement gathering and solution design.

Qualifications / Requirements:

• Professional accounting designation (CPA - CA, CMA, CGA) with a minimum of 5 years post-designation of progressive experience.
• Strong experience in documenting business processes and process improvement is required.
• Experience with PeopleSoft system is a strong asset.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of the University culture and stakeholders would be an asset.
