Job description

Are you interested in providing leadership and expertise in the design, development and implementation of health workforce programs and plans? Do you have experience in supporting the delivery of medical education such as post-graduate residency programs? If so, join the Ministry of Health, Capacity and Health Workforce Planning Branch.
We are looking for someone who is great at building partnerships with a variety of stakeholders and has knowledge of the medical education system for the post-secondary sector. As part of the Health Workforce Planning and Programs Unit, you will play a key role in developing and managing recruitment and retention programs that support Ontario's health human resources workforce.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will:
• Provide leadership and expertise in the design, development, implementation and evaluation of health workforce education programs and plans.
• Identify, research, develop, analyze and evaluate program delivery needs, options and recommendations
• Lead assigned special projects and initiatives
• Measure compliance and achievement of outcomes and lead evaluation of programs
• Provide advice and develop solutions to issues for senior management
• Develop and maintain stakeholder relationships, resolve contract issues and represent the ministry interests at conferences and forums

How do I qualify?

Health Sector Knowledge

• You have knowledge of the medical education sector in Ontario
• You have knowledge of the broad socio-economic issues impacting provincial health workforce and health care
• You have experience developing, implementing and evaluating proposed changes

Policy and Program Knowledge and Skills

• You have knowledge of program design, development, implementation and evaluation methods and techniques
• You have knowledge of policy development principles and processes to provide advice in the analysis, planning, development and implementation
• You have experience with program evaluation methods and techniques to assess new or changed programs and provide recommendations

Research and Analytical Skills

• You have knowledge of statistical/ economic modelling, survey analysis and statistical techniques to plan and manage health human resources forecasting and modelling projects
• You have knowledge to conduct research, impact analyses and labour market studies
• You can assess both qualitative and quantitative information in developing program and planning proposals
• You can research, assess and apply policies to evaluate projects and make recommendations

Communication Skills

• You have oral and written communication skills to respond to issues, provide recommendations, prepare reports, papers and briefing materials
• You have consultation and relationship management skills to establish key stakeholder partnerships and work cooperatively on initiatives
• You have negotiation skills to gain support and resolve issues
• You have advisory skills to provide strategic advice to senior management
• You have presentation and facilitation skills to represent the ministry on forums
