Shift Lead Operator – Level 2

About Us:

Future Fuel Ltd is a leading provider of sustainable waste management solutions, dedicated to environmental stewardship and renewable energy production. We operate the Two Hills RNG facility owned by ATCO Future Fuel RNG L.P which utilizes anaerobic digestion facilities to convert organic waste into renewable natural gas and nutrient-rich fertilizers. We are currently seeking talented individuals to join our operations team.

Location: 18 Minutes North of Vegreville, near Hairy Hill AB

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Plant manager, the Shift Lead Operator will oversee the safe and efficient operation of our facilities, ensuring the consistent production of biogas and high-quality fertilizers. The Shift Lead Operator will correspond with other teams of operators, and coordinate with the maintenance team to maximize plant performance.

This is a shift work position with a schedule of 7on 7off. Day and night shifts are required.

Key Responsibilities:

· Lead, supervise and coordinate with other operators.

· Oversee the startup, shutdown, and day-to-day operation of the facility, optimizing biogas production and digestate quality.

· Operate the control panel and understand the controls narrative.

· Monitor equipment performance, conduct regular inspections, and coordinate maintenance activities to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency.

· Ensure safe and efficient operation of a boiler, chiller, cooling tower, compressor, and pressure vessels.

· Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, safety procedures, and company policies.

· Develop and implement operational procedures, training programs, and safety protocols to maintain a high standard of performance and safety such as (LOTO, SOP/SWP).

· Maintain accurate records of operational data and complete KPI reports.

· Coordinate with the Plant Manager and Maintenance Manager to plan and execute equipment upgrades, repairs, and preventive maintenance activities.

· Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, safety procedures, and company policies.

· Operate skid steer and wheel loader to transport and manage feedstock materials as required for the anaerobic digestion process.

Qualifications:

· High school diploma or equivalent and minimum 5th Class Power Engineering Certificate, 4th class preferred.

· Proven experience in operating and maintaining industrial equipment, with a strong emphasis on anaerobic digestion systems.

· Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role is highly desirable.

· Excellent technical skills with the ability to troubleshoot operational issues and implement effective solutions.

· Strong understanding of safety regulations, environmental compliance, and industry best practices.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a team.

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

· Experience with Delta V control systems considered an asset.

· Experience operating skid steer and wheel loader is preferred.

· Possess a valid Class 5 operator's license and reliable transportation.

· Valid safety tickets, including First Aid/CPR, Confined Space Entry, H2S Alive, Fall Protection, AWP, and WHMIS.

· Must be able to pass mandatory pre-employment drug & alcohol testing.
