The Shipper / Receiver reports to the Inventory/Yard Supervisor and will support each of the functional areas of the Operations and Supply Chain. This role will facilitate the receiving of goods purchased, the shipping of product to outside source and maintain inventory organization and distribution within the facility.
Main Responsibilities
- Capable of performing Receiving and Shipping assigned tasks, both Physical and Data entry for Inventory Transactions.
- Physical parts receiving, restocking shelves and delivering parts to internal departments (IBT’s).
- Able to complete pre-shift inspection, operate counter-balance forklift in a safe and productive manner.
- Compare packing slips to purchase orders within the Visual ERP program and receive accordingly.
- Visual inspection of inbound material to identify Vendor Quality defects and submit NCR’s.
- Keep Shipping & Receiving environment clean and organized to Aspen’s Standards.
- Participate in cycle and year-end inventory counts.
- Shipping goods (i.e. BOL’s, RMA’s and Receipt Discrepancy Forms).
- Handle parts returns to vendors.
- Complete consumable cycle counts and submit Shipping and Receiving supply orders to Procurement Department.
- Adhere to all Safety regulations.
- Good communication with co-workers in a collaborative team environment.
- Develop and maintain a regular cleaning and rotating schedule to ensure the parts area is well organized, labeled, etc.
- Communicate regularly with Internal Customer and Team Leads to ensure good practices are in place to facilitate communications between the functions.
- Valid Forklift Certification is required, either in-house or 3rd party training.
- Able to work autonomously and uses good decision-making practices.
- Problem solving ability in a customer focused environment.
- Knowledge of heavy equipment parts considered an asset.
- Organizational and planning skills, experience managing equally important and competing priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Intermediate computer literacy with Excel, ERP, Email & Calendar Management, and Document Production.
- Strong detail orientation and ability to keep data integrity.
- Able to maintain a professional and calm demeanor in challenging situations.
- Able to identify procedure and process improvements and advise the appropriate stakeholders.
- Minimum 2 3-5 years of experience in a warehouse Shipping / Receiving role.
- Valid Forklift Certification is required, either in-house or 3rd party training.
- Completion of secondary school.
- Experience in inventory software systems with a ERP or database system, pervious experience with Visual an asset.
- Experience in Manufacturing Industry (Steel) an asset.
- Loader Certification and Overhead Crane experience an asset.
- Physically fit and able to lift up to 50 lbs - fitness test required.
- Regular exposure to industrial shop hazards which require additional protection. from noise, fall hazards and air quality.
- Ability to work inside and outdoors in any climate.
- Regular fast pace or work with tight deadlines.
- Casual work clothes that meet safety requirements (Coveralls provided).
