Job Duties:

Support students in instruction as well as social and behavioral needs

Encourage positive interactions between students and staff

Work closely and collaboratively with school staff including, but not limited to, classroom teachers and administration

Position may include activities such as lifting, transferring, and providing personal care, as necessary

Position may have involvement in student school activities such as swimming or outdoor sports and may require the EA to participate with students

Ideal candidates skills & abilities:

Strong communication skills; written, verbal and reading

Ability to assist with all subject areas

Excellent problem solving, organizational and multitasking skills

Understanding and appreciation of Grasslands Public Schools mission and values.

Able to contribute to a classroom environment that supports diversity and inclusion.

Respect and value all individuals with sensitivity to diversity.

Personal integrity and trustworthiness.

Understanding of how this role impacts the community.

Able to establish trust and rapport with students.

Preferred Education and Certifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent

Post-secondary diploma in a relevant field

-a combination of relevant training, education and experience would be considered an asset-

Original document reported within the last 6 months of hire date; condition of employment
