Summer Student

Pond Pro Canada is looking for someone with AutoCAD or SolidWorks experience to fill our Summer Student position for the 2024 season. This is a great opportunity to learn on the job, and get hands-on experience in a unique industry.

The experience gained in these positions is valuable if pursuing a future career in the field of environmental sciences, biology, business, or engineering. The position will allow the student to work under the supervision of our lead biologists, and is ideal for an individual wanting to gain hands-on experience within a small business with a focus on the environment and our waterways! Each student is assigned a project applicable to their degree, where, after the main duties of the day are complete they are able to work on said project for the rest of the day, and then present their findings to the staff at the end of the summer!

Duties

AutoCAD/SolidWorks Drawing:

• Collaborate with engineers and designers to create detailed CAD drawings and 3D models
• Assist in the modification and refinement of existing CAD designs
• Ensure accuracy and adherence to project specifications
• Contribute to design reviews and provide constructive feedback
• Work with team members to meet project deadlines
• Learn and apply industry best practices for CAD design and documentation
• Support other engineering-related tasks as needed

Warehouse Duties:

• Shipping & receiving of brand products
• Customer correspondence when necessary
• Manufacturing of pond aeration equipment
• Packaging of fish food, pond treatment products
• Stocking retail store

Research Assistance:

• In-house water testing
• Creating and conducting product testing (in a real environmental setting)
• Diagnosing customer/municipal/industrial ponds, providing recommendations, and creating quotes
• Work on and present findings of student-led assigned project

Position term: May - August

Hours of work are 8:30 am - 4:30 pm Monday – Friday, plus alternate Saturdays.

Qualifications:

• Physically fit
• Have a valid driver's licence
• Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.)
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in design work.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently and take initiative.
• Eagerness to learn and apply new skills.
• Availability to work full-time during the summer months.
• Have strong communication and customer service skills
• Currently enrolled in post-secondary and enrolled in post-secondary for the upcoming fall term
• Punctual & organized; strong work ethic
• Self-starter, positive attitude, eager to learn
• Versatile, and willing to take on any job as needed
