What You Will Get To Do

By effectively building positive rapport and relationships both internally and externally, the successful candidate will help us achieve our mission that together we deliver services that make a difference in our community.

Reporting to, and under the direction of, the Manager, Recreation Client Services, Summer Student will be responsible for supporting:

• Permit audits to ensure park spaces are being permitted appropriately and determine fields that may be under-utilized.
• Park inventory audits, to ensure signage, and equipment conditions.
• Assisting with statistics, and researching best practices related to field, ice, and floor permitting.
• Site visit follow up on park permit complaints and issues, or to identify areas for improvement.
• Office administrative support for filling, record keeping, and customer service; and,
• other duties as may be assigned.

Our Recreation team is looking for a self-motivated, solutions-oriented, data driven team member. You convey your thoughts clearly and concisely. You listen attentively and ask questions for clarification and understanding. Using sound judgment, you demonstrate tact, diplomacy and sound discretion when working with the public.

You’re always happy to learn new things and to help build a working environment that encourages and cultivates new ideas. You foster a collaborative team environment among co-workers, and work well both independently and as part of a team.

What You Bring To Our Team

• full-time student in Recreation & Leisure, Business Administration or a related field
• intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; and,
• a valid driver’s license (G Class) maintained in good standing with access to a personal vehicle.

What We Offer You

• The Town is currently undertaking an extensive job evaluation review for CUPE positions. The salaries and job responsibilities for all part-time unionized postings are being considered under review until the results and ratings for these positions are finalized and shared. Please be aware that salaries and job responsibilities may be impacted by this review.

Students must be currently enrolled in and attending a post-secondary institution on a full-time basis (students will be required to provide proof) for the 2023/2024 school year and be returning to a post-secondary institution on a full-time basis in September 2024;

Students selected must be available to commence summer employment as early as Monday, May 6, 2024 and commit to working through to, and including, August 30, 2024.
