We are looking for a Permanent Full-time Supervisor for the Learning and Employment Centre.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, innovative leader to join our Resident Supports and Services team in the Community. Reporting to the Manager of the Learning and Employment Center (LEC), the LEC Supervisor is responsible for playing an active role in implementing a social model of support based on the needs and choices of the participant.

This position is specific to supporting residents and staff through developing, planning, implementing, and evaluating appropriate training, recreation, and leisure programs and services. The successful candidate will oversee the supervision of the Recreation Assistants/students.

Using the person-directed planning approach, the LEC Supervisor will collaborate and liaise with community organizations that offer opportunities to develop inclusive programs for individuals with varying abilities. The LEC Supervisor will also facilitate the work of staff, volunteers, and other program leads while working alongside clients and staff of Breton Ability Centre. They will also be a valued member of our Outreach Team and may be required to work independently in the community with Outreach clients to achieve the primary goals and outcomes related to this role. They will be responsible for reporting key metrics on participant outcomes.

Responsibilities:

· Oversee the day-to-day operations of the LEC programs and social enterprise

· Ensure adherence to program guidelines and objectives

· Coordinate and monitor programs to ensure smooth program implementation and adjust programs in consultation with the Manager, Learning and Employment Centre.

· Network and establish partnerships to create opportunities for individuals with varying abilities

· Maintain accurate records and report related issues of program activities to the manager

· Provide support and guidance to program participants and their families

· Manage program budgets and resources effectively to maximize program impact and sustainability.

· Coordinate and update participant schedules – programs, vacations, etc.

Other duties include, but are not limited to, coordination and supervision of the banking program, training programs, reporting on clients’ services for individuals with varying abilities as well as fostering a healthy, safe, and respectful participant and person-centered environment. This position may include evening and weekend hours as determined by the Manager of the Learning and Employment Centre.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills with effective time management skills. Previous supervisory experience in disability support or a related field will be considered an asset. Knowledge of conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques would be an asset.

· Education requirements include a bachelor’s degree in social sciences/or health-related fields with a minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of experience working in a supervisory role. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

· Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

· experience working with individuals with varying abilities and complex diagnoses.

· A great communicator who is observant, nonjudgmental, and empathetic to the needs of the participant and their family.

· Community navigation skills and relationships with other organizations and stakeholders that foster opportunities for inclusion, develop natural networks of support and enable participants to experience flexible, mainstream services such as education, health, leisure, transportation, etc.

· Promote a participant-centered and person-centered approach to work, learning, and service delivery with colleagues, participants, and families.

· Ability to work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary and inter-agency professionals using a relationship-focused approach to foster positive, collaborative connections with participants and staff.

· Ability to generate reports and presentations.

· Clear criminal record check

· Child Abuse Registry Check

· Valid driver’s license required.
