Job Summary: The function of the Supported Child Development Program Consultant is to support the inclusion of children who require additional support in childcare settings chosen by their families; to strengthen and support families in their role as decision-makers on behalf of their children and themselves; and to facilitate the development and implementation of individual plans for children that reflect the choices and priorities identified by their families. Education, Training and Experience

• BA in Early Childhood Education (ECD) or early childhood development related field - child and youth care, psychology, social work, education. SCDP/IDP Certificate program offered through UBC or equivalent may be accepted.
• Minimum 3 years work experience in inclusive childcare and the community social services sector with a demonstrated working knowledge of family-centered service, early intervention, Child Development, family support, and community-based services
• Direct experience with Supported Child Development and experience working within a multidisciplinary team
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience with family-centered practice early intervention, Child Development, family support and community-based services

Qualifications: Skills and Abilities

• Strong interpersonal and oral/written communication skills
  Skills administering a range of formal and informal developmental assessment tools
  Ability to work independently and to manage time and workload effectively
  Ability to maintain confidentiality
  Ability to maintain a positive, professional, non-judgmental attitude
  Knowledge of community childcare resources and other community support services
  Knowledge of multicultural issues and culturally appropriate practices
  Computer literacy (virtual platform)
  Knowledge and skills in adult training
