Position Summary
Cambrian College’s Enterprise Application Solutions requires a System Analyst on a contract basis in accordance with the Initiatives/Opportunities language of the Support Staff collective Agreement from March 2024 – March 2026. This role is fully remote.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan, design and develop efficient information systems in support of core organizational functions.
- Identify, communicate, and resolve system issues to ensure IT systems continue to deliver value to the organization.
- Lead the design and development of new applications and enhancements to existing applications.
- Provide technical advice in support of production, test, and development environments.
- Deploy new applications, systems software, and products throughout the enterprise.
- Design, develop, and coordinate the installation of application fixes, patches, enhancements, and upgrades.
- Ensure the integrity, compatibility, and interoperability of application data.
- Review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develop strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems.
- Create models, specifications, diagrams, and charts to provide direction to programmers.
- Maintain system documentation.
- Coordinate and perform in-depth tests, including end-user reviews, for modified and new systems.
- Assist and advise Database Administrators in the design and maintenance of databases that support enterprise applications.
- Work collaboratively with Database Administrators to create models for new database development and/or changes to existing ones.
- Work with programmer/analysts to develop suitable system architectures.
- Ensure systems built are auditable and secure.
- Ensure adequate measures are in place to maintain integrity of data. This includes validating data as well as instituting measures that avoid problems caused by multiple updating of data.
- Develop methods to Integrate data into and aggregate data from existing systems where necessary.
Qualifications
Required:
- Minimum of a three-year postsecondary diploma, degree, or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems, Programmer Analyst, or a related field of study. (A copy of educational documents must be submitted with application *** education completed outside of Canada, applicants are required to submit a WES or ICAS with their application)
- Must also have experience with COTS (Commercial off the Shelf) software or a combination of related technical experience.
- Must have knowledge of business analysis and project management fundamentals.
- Minimum of eight years of experience as a project leader with senior analyst experience, or equivalent experience performing related work.
- Experience with modern software development methodologies such as Agile and current software development frameworks and best practices is essential to this role.
- Highly motivated professional with excellent interpersonal, communication, and time-management skills.
- Collaborative professional who can work independently and within a team environment.
Additional Assets/Preferred:
- Experience working with Oracle PL/SQL
- Experience with Banner or other Ellucian Student Information Systems.
- Experience with C#/.NET Framework and WebAPI or REST service-oriented architecture.
- Experience working within a postsecondary environment.
