Group Summary

The Magna Exteriors portfolio of products includes access systems such as liftgates, exterior trim, modular systems, front-end modules including fascia, active aerodynamic systems and other lightweight structural components for automotive, commercial truck and other industrial markets.

About the Role

Coordinates tool and die activities including repair and testing, lay out, set-up, machining, fitting, and finishing.

Your preferred qualifications

  • Certificate of Qualification as a Tool and Die Maker
  • Minimum 10 years automotive experience
  • MUST possess strong troubleshooting skills
  • Fluency in English, both oral and written
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent problem solving and organizational skills
  • Excellent leadership abilities
  • Must be willing to work rotating shifts and overtime to meet customer demands
  • Must have the ability to work under pressure
  • Able to work with minimal supervision 

 

DESIRABLE ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Basic understanding of the computer
  • Program and operate Sink / wire EDM
  • CAD modeling (mastercam, solidworks, Esprit, inventor)
  • TIG / MIG welding
  • Computer training
  • CNC programming and equipment functions
  • Automotive manufacturing experience

Your Responsibilities

  • Apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram. 
  • Providing leadership with their groups
  • Promote balance work load to get the most out of your work group
  • Influences the quality productivity an performance within the Toolroom 
  • Promote and facilitate positive communication between all employees
  • Be open minded to new ideas and strategies (provide encouragement and support of ideas within the team)
  • Complete work orders within given timelines. 
  • Ensure all group members are completing task in a timely manner
  • Actively involved in new Die builds, from design reviews, Trials. (Create critical spares list)
  • Update team members on new Die builds, brainstorm ideas
  • Continue update Die standards based on lessons learned from new builds and daily work experiences
  • Have a good understanding of all group members’ strengths and areas for improvements, utilizing the team accordingly and work to improve on overall output
  • Work with production to complete PM’s on time 
  • Actively involved and Promote 5S daily
  • Delegate and promote owner ship within the group
  • Read and follow part drawings for Die refurb and engineering changes
  • Quote in-house engineering changes
  • Maintaining critical spare inventory
  • Assist Tool and Die makers in trouble shooting
  • Complete assignments as issued by Toolroom supervisor
  • Actively involved in Tool Maker yearly appraisals 
  • Participate in personnel related issues
  • Follow up on daily issues, understand root cause and ensure corrective actions are taken. 
  • Continue to improve downtime and provide summary for MBR
  • Responsible for proper handling, storage and disposal of all chemicals, used materials and equipment
  • Ensure all Dies in the Toolroom have work orders attached and filled out with the appropriate details and next run date
  • Ensure all Dies leaving the Toolroom have an identification tag indicating status of job. (Green, Yellow, Red)
  • Be prepared for Top 5 meeting with issues and options for continuous improvements 
  • Comply with all Health and Safety policies and procedures
  • Train new employee of job Specific Hazards
  • Follows all applicable Mytox BOS procedures
  • Performs all job functions abiding by the office/work standards, policies and procedures as outlines in the company handbook.
  • Performs all job functions in alignment with IATF 16949 quality management standards and ISO 14001
  • Actively participates in continuous improvement
  • Maintain 5S standards in working environment
  • Attend training based on Mytox’s internal training matrix
  • Performs all job functions in a safe, healthful and environmentally conscious manner, abiding by all health, safety and environment rules and regulations as outlined in the company handbook
  • Performs other duties as assigned or any reasonable request by management.
