Position Title: Translator – English to French
Reports To: Director, Corporate Communications and Philanthropy
Department: Corporate Communications
Term: Temporary Full time – One Year Contract
Work Arrangements: 100% remote working is available for candidates across Canada.
The Opportunity: Equitable Life of Canada’s translation department puts its linguistic knowledge and skills to work for internal clients. Due to the increasing English-to-French translation needs, the Translation Team is looking for a Translator to support its current translators during the specified term.
What you will be doing:
- Translate a wide range of internal and external communications (such as daily correspondence, forms, presentations, marketing materials, website, and social media contents, etc.) mainly from English to French (Quebec) and occasionally from French to English according to the Company’s and professional standards
- Use suitable terminology for the insurance and financial services sector
- Help create, maintain, and update the translation team’s terminology database
- Update translation memories as needed
- Proofread final contents
- Carry out other related tasks as needed
- Participate in team meetings
- Translation certificate or degree in translation from a recognized institution
- Strong attention to detail
- Great attitude, team player with good interpersonal skills
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills in both French and English
- Excellent research skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Adaptability to manage multiple deadlines and changing priorities
- Capacity to work effectively under tight deadlines
- Proficiency in using SDL Trados Studio translation software
- Computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, Nitro)
