Read and Interpretation: Ability to read and interpret utility maps, site plans, and as-built drawings to understand the layout of underground utilities.
Identification of Utilities: Proficient in identifying the type and size of potential barriers in construction zones, including but not limited to telecommunications, power, cable TV, gas, water, and sewer systems.
Marking and Location: Locate underground utilities using appropriate tools and methods, and mark their precise locations on the ground.
GPS Data Capture: Utilize GPS technology to capture accurate locations of identified barriers and maintain detailed records.
Documentation: Prepare sketches and photograph all identified barriers, maintaining thorough documentation of each project.
Paperwork: Complete necessary paperwork in a precise and timely manner, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations.
Supervision: Supervise and direct an assistant on the field, ensuring efficient and effective completion of tasks.
Safety and Training: Continually update various safety and training certifications to ensure a high level of competence and adherence to industry standards.
Qualifications:
Previous experience as a Utilities Locator or similar role preferred.
Proficient in reading utility maps, site plans, and drawings.
Strong knowledge of underground utilities, including telecommunications, power, cable TV, gas, water, and sewer systems.
Familiarity with GPS technology for accurate location tracking.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and supervise a field assistant.
Commitment to maintaining up-to-date safety and training certifications.
