Job Summary
Under the direction of the Manager Marketing, Sales Effectiveness, the Marketing Specialist is responsible to develop and execute integrated traditional and digital marketing promotion / communication plans for corporate, product, training, events, services and initiatives and co-ordinates the development of related sales and marketing collateral. The Marketing Specialist will liaise with customers and key stakeholders to define goals and objectives, determine appropriate promotion strategies and measure, evaluate and report on outcomes, ensure brand consistency and product association.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Note: Percentages refer to approximate % of time spent on each area, over the course of a given year
1. DEVELOPMENT OF INTEGRATED MARKETING PROMOTIONS / COMMUNICATION (45%)
- Develops integrated marketing promotion/communication plans for assigned key corporate initiatives/events and products, programs and services.
- Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to determine needs and align promotional and communication activities to support business objectives.
- Incorporate digital marketing & social media strategies, approaches, tactics and practices in developing and implementing marketing plans.
- Solid understanding of project management, branding activities, market research, target markets and sales funnel engagement strategies
- In collaboration with internal and external communications, align consistent content & marketing strategies across digital, mobile and traditional marketing properties.
- Liaises with the Creative Production Team for the design and printing of all marketing collateral, content & materials.
- Establish market share benchmarks and performance indicators.
- Analyze existing customer data and recommend appropriate research to improve customer profile intelligence on designated portfolio.
2. EXCEUTION OF TACTICAL MARKETING PROMOTION / COMMUNICATION ELEMENTS (40%)
- Creates copy or arranges for copywriting services for a variety of formats: letters, advertisements, sell sheets and catalogues
- Prepares final copy for and liaises with the Creative Production Team for the design and printing of all marketing collateral.
- Plans, requests and co-ordinates external and vendor services for digital distribution/distribution channels, advertising, promotional services, mailing services, postage and distribution of marketing material.
- Supports the brand program and ensure adherence to WSPS brand standards as outlined in the WSPS Brand Standards Manual
- Work collaboratively with the IT and other relevant departments to track, gather, assess and interpret analytics, measurements & metrics for marketing programs, and familiarity with KPI’s
- Co-ordinates promotional activities and logistics for corporate sponsorships and trade show exhibits.
- Evaluates marketing promotion/communication plan to predetermined objectives and produces a final report with outcomes and recommendations.
- Tracks and monitors results of promotion/communication activities.
3. MAINTAINS CUSTOMER SERVICE LEVELS / PROCESSES (15%)
- Contributes to the development and improvement of team processes by demonstrating knowledge of the organization and its business units.
- Adheres to team processes that support development, execution and evaluation of marketing promotion/communication plans to ensure effective and efficient service delivery levels.
- Consults with internal and external stakeholders to clarify expectations, seek direction, negotiate changes and resolve issues.
- Communicates in a timely and effective manner to keep customers informed and up-to-date.
- Any other duties as assigned.
4. CONTRIBUTES TO A HEALTHY AND SAFE WORK ENVIRONMENT (at all times)
- Adhere to WSPS policies, procedures, process fact sheets, guidelines and business rules.
- Contribute to the promotion of a healthy & safe culture through modelling and following WSPS health, safety and wellness policies and practices.
- Act as a role model internally and externally by demonstrating knowledge of health and safety and wellness practices, weighing options for sound risk management decision making
Skills, Knowledge, Expertise
Minimum
- Post-secondary diploma in marketing, communications or equivalent.
- 3 – 5 years of experience in marketing, advertising and/or communications
- Demonstrated knowledge of digital marketing & social media
- Innovative with a strong business acumen
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
- Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple projects at once
- Results-oriented with the ability to identify forward-thinking techniques to achieve overall organizational goals
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, PPT and Excel
- Working knowledge of Google Analytics
- Ability to travel for corporate meetings and events
- Valid Driver’s License with access to a vehicle that meets minimum MTO safety standards and has the ability to provide a clean Driving Abstract.
- Maintains a home office in a safe manner
- Provide an original criminal background check at your own expense prior to commencing work with WSPS. The criminal record check document must have been issued no more than 30 days prior to first day of employment.

Preferred
- Post-secondary degree in marketing, communications, advertising or equivalent.
- 5 - 7 years of experience in marketing, advertising and/or communications
- Effective, demonstrated communication and team building skills
- Working knowledge of CRM database
