Position Summary
The Junior Accountant is a key member of the finance team, collaborating closely with the Accounting Clerk F to ensure day-to-day financial accounting functions for Metro Continuing Education and Bennett Centre's five cost centers are completed.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
- coordinating all revenue related accounting functions
- reconciling daily revenue receipts in Lumens registration software
- verifying and recording receipt of funds for federal and provincial funding, contract invoices and provincial bursary funding
- training customer service clerical staff on processing transactions such as refunds and withdrawals in Lumens
- providing a key role in coordination with the Customer Service Supervisor and Technical Analyst in the development and implementation of processes and set up for Lumens software
- liaising with Financial Services regarding allocation of funds for summer school and other academic programs
- tracking and analyzing monthly revenue streams for review by leadership staff
- completing monthly, quarterly and annual reconciliations, internal transaction vouchers and journal vouchers to internal accounts, deferred revenue and external lease agreements
- reviewing all account codes associated with revenue items
- overseeing Capital Asset inventory for Metro Continuing Education and Bennett Centre
Education/Qualifications
- a diploma in accounting
- a minimum of three years related experience
- demonstrated experience using computerized financial systems
- excellent communication, analytical and organizational skills
- Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Oracle
Rate of Pay
$2,552.90 - $3,256.40 bi-weekly
