We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our finance team as a Junior Accountant. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of basic accounting principles, strong analytical skills, and a keen eye for accuracy. This entry-level position offers an excellent opportunity for professional growth and development in the field of accounting. Based in the Sherwood Park location, the Junior Accountant's primary role is the day-to-day financial transactions, monthly reconciliations and providing support to the Senior Accountants.
Essential Duties
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records through data entry and reconciliation.
- Record day-to-day financial transactions and ensure their accuracy.
- Reconcile bank statements to ensure consistency with financial records.
- Support the month-end closing process by preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reports.
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and company policies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather financial information and provide support as needed.
- Assist in special projects and tasks as assigned by senior members of the finance team.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least a second-year student actively pursuing a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. (mandatory requirement).
- Understanding of basic accounting principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office .
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and ethical behavior.
