Accounting Specialist
Provides full cycle accounting and financial reporting activities, prepares financial statements and responds to annual audit activities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform business accounting transactions and prepare all regulatory remittances, payments and ensure obligations and compliance with government legislation are met.
- Perform bank reconciliations and identify discrepancies, make adjustments as required.
- Regularly reconcile subledger and general ledger data, prepare monthly and quarter-end GL postings; meet all period close deadlines; identify financial discrepancies and make necessary adjustments, as required.
- Perform year-end reconciliations on key GL accounts, prepare audit lead schedules, identify discrepancies and resolve them before field audit starts and responds to auditor's inquiries.
- Support and facilitate presentation materials to the Finance Committee to include interest, fixed asset schedule, capital asset comparison with budget, and preparation of Statement of Operations, Balance Sheet and Statement of Cash Flows.
- Monitor cash flow activities and prepare investment schedules to support decision making.
- Support CNO's annual budgeting process.
Education and Experience
- Completion of post-secondary degree in Accounting or Finance or any related field, or near completion of obtaining an accounting designation, or equivalent work experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in full cycle accounting, period end close, year-end audit and account reconciliations.

- Client Focus - anticipates client needs to meet accounting regulations and internal financial policies, identifies ways to address them, follows up to confirm and keeps them updated.
- Demonstrates advanced proficiency in Excel; intermediate proficiency in MS Office including Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook;
Full Salary Range: $87,361 - $104,833
