Part-Time Payroll Specialist

Terra Nova (www.terranovanow.com) a dynamic and growing transcription and documentation solutions company is seeking a skilled and experienced part-time Payroll Specialist to join our remote team. As our Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for managing and processing payroll for Terra Nova's employees and independent contractors in both Canada and the US.

This is a remote part-time position with flexible hours; however, the role requires working against specific semi-monthly payroll deadlines. The position is expected to require approximately 15-20 hours of work per week. Hourly compensation will range from $22-26, commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and process payroll for Terra Nova's employees and independent contractors in Canada and the US, ensuring compliance with Canadian and US payroll regulations.
• Be the backup for invoicing and billing for our clients, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Maintain accurate records of payroll activities, as well as update the procedure manual.
• Communicate with employees and ICs to resolve any issues related to payroll.
• Use expert Excel skills to create and maintain spreadsheets related to payroll.
• Utilize advanced Excel functions to prepare comprehensive reports required by management, showcasing key insights and trends in payroll.
• Work against specific semi-monthly payroll deadlines with a high degree of accuracy.
  
• Facilitate year-end processing of tax forms, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant tax regulations.
• Other administrative responsibilities as required.

Qualifications:

• 2 or more years of experience in payroll.
• Expert knowledge of Excel, including pivot tables and linking tabs.
• Understanding of Canadian and US payroll regulations.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment, while delivering accurate and timely results against tight deadlines.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a focus on accuracy.
• Knowledge of ADP and/or Altera is a plus.
