Position Overview
As the Payroll Specialist, you will play a key role in executing the payroll operations for our dealerships, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in payroll processing. This role is ideal for an experienced payroll professional with a deep understanding of Canadian payroll regulations and a track record of success in the automotive industry. This position does not have any direct reports and is located full-time onsite.
Key Responsibilities
1. Payroll Processing
- Process payroll for all employees in compliance with all appropriate national, provincial and local withholding regulations.
- Manage accurate and timely processing of multiple payroll cycles including bi-weekly, semi monthly, and monthly schedules.
- Ensure deductions, benefits, and other payroll-related elements are processed accurately.
2. Compliance and Reporting
- Stay abreast of Canadian payroll legislation and ensure compliance with federal and provincial regulations.
- Prepare and submit required statutory reports, including T4s, ROEs, and other relevant documentation.
- Provide periodic analysis of payroll and disbursement records to ensure that adjustments are in accord with management’s criteria
- Collaborate with finance and management to reconcile payroll-related accounts and resolve discrepancies.
3. Team Collaboration
- Collaborate with sales, finance, and other departments to ensure seamless communication and integration of payroll-related information.
- Provide guidance to other staff members on payroll-related matters and foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Provides on-going assistance to employees in tax-related payroll matters
4. System Management
- Utilize UKG payroll software to optimize efficiency and accuracy in payroll processing and reporting.
- Implement best practices in system utilization and stay informed about system updates and improvements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in payroll processing, preferably in the automotive industry.
- In-depth knowledge of federal and provincial payroll legislation, tax regulations, and labor standards.
- Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) designation is an asset.
- Proficiency in using payroll software and strong analytical skills.
- UKG payroll software experience preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
