- Maintains employee personnel and payroll records in the HRIS system, Payroll system and personnel files, ensuring all information is current, accurate and compliant with all company policies and procedures
- Runs all aspects of a high-volume multi-provincial payroll efficiently and accurately, while adhering to strict schedules and deadlines
- Ensures all aspects of the Union agreements are adhered to as it pertains to payroll, including scheduled increases
- Issues electronic ROEs in accordance with Service Canada requirements
- Administers and coordinates payroll-related activities for selective Company benefits e.g. Company Car taxable benefits, Stock Options, gift cards.
- Partners with the regional human resources teams and managers
- Knowledge and understanding of Company general ledger accounting structure in JD Edwards system to facilitate processing of journal entries
- Responsible for preparing and requesting payments to meet company and government obligations
- Provide first-class customer service to all employees and other stake holders as it relates to payroll
- Analyze and reconcile payroll related general ledger accounts
- Ongoing testing as needed to ensure HRIS and Payroll system is compliant with Company, Federal and Provincial regulations
- Create/Analyze/Investigate/Action payroll reports
- Responsible for resolving payroll related problems
- Assists with year-end processing in all activities
- Looks for continuous improvement opportunities
- Acts as back-up for other payrolls/team members
