The opportunity
We're hiring a full-time, Ottawa-based Accounting and Payroll Coordinator to support suppliers, corporations and other entities within the Accounting and Payroll functions.
We're looking for someone who's curious about the infrastructure sector and enjoys facilitating daily bank reconciliations, providing billing information and administering payroll.
Your impact
We'll rely on your timeliness and precision to process purchase orders, travel reimbursements, and other accounting transactions related to accounts payable management, semi-monthly payment, and monthly processing.

Your responsibilities
You'll contribute to data entry and related payroll and accounts payable duties under the guidance of the controller.
- Support the controller in processing payroll
- Develop and update payroll-related documentation while resolving discrepancies
- Process invoices and employee expense claims
- Assist with semi-monthly vendor and employee payment processing
- Review bills to the company for discrepancies and investigate payment problems
- Audit accounts to ensure payments are timely
- Utilize ERP system to run databases and pay bills
- Liaise with auditors and support the annual audit processes
- Update contract under negotiation budgets in Deltek Vantagepoint
- Conduct vendor file reconciliations and respond to project managers' inquiries
- Respond to vendor inquiries, maintain good customer relations, and solve problems
- Perform relevant clerical duties such as word processing and maintaining filing and record systems
- Stay current with all regulations, practices, tax laws, reporting requirements and industry trends
- Create promotional projects to correspond with identified opportunities in the right organization and currency

- Bachelor's degree or college diploma in accounting
- At least 2 years of experience in accounts payable, preferably in a multi-currency, international organization
- At least 1 year of experience in payroll
- Knowledge of accepted accounting rules, practices, tax laws, reporting requirements, payment regulations and fair credit practices
- Demonstrated ability to calculate, post, correct and manage accounting figures and financial records
- High level of moral judgment for handling confidential information and monetary transactions
- Experience gathering data, compiling information and preparing financial reports
- Ability to perform moderate to complex account reconciliations
- Computer literacy, including effective working skills of Microsoft Office Suite and adaptability to learn new software (Deltek Vision or Vantagepoint)
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification
- Fluency in French
