The salary range for this position is:
Recruitment range: $70,137- $77,330 starting salary determined by the PEA Collective Agreement.
Performance range: starting salary to max of $91,214 is available through annual performance increases.
Mandate:
The Administrative and Project Officer (APO) plays a vital role in supporting Residence Services (RESS) goals and strategies by managing and advising on administrative processes, as well as developing, leading, and implementing strategic administrative, communication and information technology projects. The APO works closely with the Director and Associate Directors to develop and manage procedures; coordinate processes and communications with other departments; and provide expertise in the day to day operations of the unit.
Objectives:
- Oversees administrative operations and planning, including setting priorities and deadlines, and recommending process change to ensure the unit operates smoothly.
- As the key departmental lead for Administrative and information technology to coordinate projects to improve and support the overall operations of the unit, this includes working closely with University Systems and other internal and external vendors/partners.
- Supervises an administrative team, including recruiting, performance development, coaching, and workload management.
- Supports the Director in the management and coordination of key confidential processes such as eviction and sanction appeals, and Priority Access to residence.
- Recommends and monitor budgets and expenditures in designated expense areas.
This position requires a level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in a relevant area plus minimum 5 years of experience. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.

- Experience troubleshooting and/or creating processes in various systems and software, including large database enterprise systems, to solve specific operational issues in collaboration with subject matter experts.
- Experience creating letters, web content, and other communications for diverse audiences and situations.
- Ability to handle complex or conflictual written and verbal communications with sensitivity and discretion.
- Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships.
- Proficiency with computer applications (i.e., MS-Office Suite, Adobe Create Suite, content management systems).
- Commitment to learning new systems and processes to create efficiencies and improve service.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Knowledge of university systems and processes an asset.
- Knowledge of residence or accommodation database an asset (StarRez or equivalent).
