Job Description
We here at H&H Wood Products in London are looking for a energetic Afternoons Lead/ Forklift Operator to maintain a afternoon shift. Will be responsible for average of 10 employees production. Training would be done on a day shift , then when ready will start on the afternoon shift with the crew.

6.1 Is responsible for the safe and efficient operations of the Forklift supporting production and inventory organization.
6.2 Is responsible for completing the Pre-shift forklift inspection before he is able drive the forklift.
6.3 Is responsible for factory floor organization in primary work location. Make sure that each Work center is setup properly so that the employee is able to work efficiently to prevent extra movement of walking, twisting or turning.
6.4 Must make sure wood is brought to each work center on time and finished product is also taken away on time to prevent production from being delayed. Prepare a head of time.
6.5 Is responsible in making sure that each lift of wood brought to a work center has barcode tag stapled to it and also as well as the lifts that are returned to the stock area. Barcode Tags must be stapled on the sides of the lifts of lumber (Not on front or back sides) for inventory purposes.
6.6 Ensures the regular maintenance of the forklift is performed and advises the Production Manager of any serious maintenance issues that need servicing externally.
6.7 Is responsible in making sure that all work centers are prepared for the next day. Jigs/tables are set properly and wood set in place at the work center ready for production.
6.8 Is responsible in making sure that wood that will be used for the next day will be brought in the night before to prevent production delay. This must be done especially during the winter months to help defrost the wood and to keep snow and ice off of the lifts of lumber which will help improve production.
6.9 Is responsible in making sure that the Assembly shop is well organized and not too full. Make sure that everything is stacked neatly and safely to save as much room as possible. Walkways must be clear. Everything must have a designated spot (ex. jigs/tables, strapping carts, steel strapping)
6.10 Is responsible for making sure that the stock wood area (beside and behind the building) is kept organized. Must hold other forklift drivers accountable if they don’t return the lifts of wood to their designated areas.
6.11 At time might be asked to help assist other forklift drivers if they fall behind.
6.12 At times the forklift driver will be ask to help assist Production Manager in training new employees or help explain to employees what they must do.
6.13 Maintains cooperative working relationships with supervisors and other staff members in all departments.
6.14 Makes it understood that THE CUSTOMER IS OUR FIRST PRIORITY and that each employee is here to support that priority.
6.15 Stays aware of current company policies and procedures.
6.16 Performs any other duties as may be assigned by the Production Manager.
6.17 Lead Hand/ Forklift driver is also the Quality Control Representative. When moving the finished product check the quality in making sure that no exposed nails are showing and that the proper lumber was used; ex. Wood is cut to the right size. Make sure that the lumber meets the standards ex. no rotten boards. If the work order requires HT (Heat Treated) lumber make sure that wood is used. Also make sure all products that required to be heat treated are stamped clearly.
6.18 Must try to make an improvement to the workplace everyday.
