What is the Opportunity?

  • The purpose of the Securitization Finance Analyst/Associate role is to market, structure and execute securitized transactions for RBC’s clients.
  • The Securitization Finance team provides high quality products and services for RBC’s clients while generating a material source of revenue, favorable risk/return profile, cross-selling opportunities and client impact for RBC.

What will you do?

  • Prepare marketing materials for existing and target clients
  • Assist with client sponsorship review
  • Provide data analysis, including statistical stratification of collateral portfolios, historical performance statistics, projection of future performance expectations, and derivation of expected case losses
  • Prepare credit write-ups (Transaction Request) for the required credit (GRM), business (ComCom), and Rating Agency approvals
  • Prepare annual renewals of existing ABCP and on balance sheet transactions
  • Liaise with Rating Agencies to obtain approval for securitization transactions
  • Participate in client due diligence sessions and prepare diligence write-ups
  • Prepare necessary materials for transaction amendments
  • Help clients and Middle Office develop settlement reports that meet the terms and conditions of each transaction
  • Prepare Seller Reports and require KME templates
  • Proactively identify operational risks / control deficiencies in the business
  • Review and comply with Firm Policies applicable to your business activities
  • Escalate operational risk loss events, control deficiencies and risks that you identify to your line manager and the relevant risk and control functions on a timely basis.

What do you need to succeed?

Must Have:

  • Undergraduate degree in finance, economics, engineering or mathematics preferred but not required
  • 1+ years of direct experience gained in the Securitization team of a financial institution, Rating Agency, law firm or issuing client preferred but not required
  • Series 7, 63 and 79 (will be required within a reasonable time after joining if not currently held)

Nice to Have:

  • College graduate with history of strong academic performance
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Experience developing pitch books for ABS issuers
  • Experience executing ABS transactions (Consumer asset classes) 
  • Ambition, eagerness and curiosity to learn and develop new asset classes
  • Solutions-oriented approach to issues and problems
  • Energetic self-starter who functions well in fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Willingness to work closely with and learn from both senior and junior team members

Authorities, Impact, Risk

  • Appropriate licenses and registrations
  • Authority to transact on behalf of the firm
  • Multi-product and derivatives competent
  • Supports Consumer ABS Securitization Financing team within the broader ABS and Global Spread Products businesses

Key Relationships

  • Provide critical support to junior and senior ABS bankers for client coverage
  • Regular coordination with ABS syndicate, ABS sales, ABS trading, ABS financing, Corporate Banking, Global Investment Banking and other internal stakeholders to deliver the best of RBC to our clients

Working Conditions

  • Comfortable and effective multitasking in a fast-paced and pressure-filled trading floor environment with competing priorities and deadlines
  • Strong computer and analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Hours are unpredictable and as needed
  • Considerable attention to detail is required
  • Team and position are based in New York; some travel is expected

The good-faith expected salary range for the above position is $110,000 – $205,000 depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate’s experience, skills, registration status; market conditions; and business needs.  This salary range does not include other elements of total compensation, including a discretionary bonus and benefits such as a 401(k) program with company-matching contributions; health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance; and paid time-off plan.
