Overview

The Financial Services department is seeking an energetic team player for the role of Analyst, Payroll for a term of 12 to 18 months. Our payroll division is responsible for processing and maintaining payroll for nine different bargaining units and the Cornwall Police, which adds up to approximately 1,000 employees.

Reporting to the Supervisor, Payroll, the position is responsible for the execution of the following:

• Creating and maintaining employee records and ensuring accuracy of data information
• GL analysis and reconciliations
• Working collaboratively with the Coordinator, Payroll to ensure accuracy and timeliness of payroll data and weekly ad bi-weekly payroll processing
• Assisting employees with concerns and/or questions regarding payroll and resolving issues as required

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Post-secondary education, preferably in Accounting, Business Administration with 3-5 years of experience in a similar role
• Experience with an ERP accounting software system (preferably MS Dynamics GP) and strong knowledge of Microsoft applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. As part of the interview process selected applicants will be tested in Excel.
• Proven analytical skills, which is coupled with a strong customer focus, the inclination to be action oriented, focused on continuous improvement, and demonstrate perseverance when the situation demands it. As this position is responsible for the professional administration of private and sensitive information, the role also will require high levels of integrity, trust, and values.
• Possess or be eligible to obtain a Payroll Compliance Professional designation.
• Experience in processing payroll in a multi-union environment and experience with benefit and pension plans would be an asset.
• Bilingualism in both official languages will be considered an asset.

The City of Cornwall offers a starting annual salary of $68,146.

This is a contract position for a 12-18 month term.
