Job description
We are seeking an Assistant Controllerto start immediately. This position is responsible for the oversight of the day to day accounting operations, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the monthly, quarterly and annual reporting. The Assistant Controller should have excellent knowledge and the ability to comprehend and complete full cycle accounting. This person will also streamline accounting processes, establish and maintain internal controls and assist in budgeting and forecasting. Responsibilities:
- Weekly, Monthly, and Annual financial closing and reporting processes including the preparation and presentation of financial statements and other reporting requirements
- Account reconciliations and required working papers
- Managing operational data and maintaining data accuracy and integrity
- Preventing inaccuracies in financial statements by adopting proper policies for financial reporting
- Coordinate annual review and notice to reader engagements for several companies
- Conduct account analysis/investigations/reviews
- Prepare financial forecasts along with monthly financial statements
- Oversee accounting for inventory management in a manufacturing environment
- Assist with inventory counts
- Calculation and/or filing/payment of all required corporate remittances (GST, installments, WCB, etc.)
- Other projects as required
Qualifications and Competencies:
- Experience as a senior-level accountant is an asset
- Strong working knowledge of detailed financial data analysis
- Working knowledge of federal, provincial, and local tax compliance regulations and reporting
- CPA highly preferred
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work closely with senior management team
- Experience in a manufacturing environment would be considered an asset
- Flexible, team oriented individual who shows initiative and is engaged in the continuous process improvement of the accounting function
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- The ability to work in a multi-company accounting environment
- Proven follow through skills
- Ability to work without direct supervision.
- Strong organizational and time-management ability.
- Capability to present information in a clear and concise manner.
- Ability to work efficiently under stress and time constraints.
- Proficient in handling multiple priorities and adapting quickly to an ever-changing environment
- Proficiency with excel spreadsheets; filters, functions, pivot tables

Salary: $75,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
