We are currently seeking to add an Assistant Controllerto join our team

Position Summary:
Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the Assistant Controller, will play a crucial role in the accounting operations of the KBL Group of Companies. You will be responsible for managing financial accounting and reporting activities, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with established standards. This role involves transactional support, analytical insight, and collaborative efforts to drive continuous improvement in financial processes.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Transactional Support:
- Become a resident Sage 300 subject matter expert, driving continuous improvement into the financial close process.
- Manage the month-end process, ensuring teamwork, accountability to deadlines, and a culture of continuous improvement.
- Oversee capital expenditure and fixed asset accounting processes, including reporting, reconciliation, and loan accounting.
- Support annual insurance renewal and audit processes.
- Manage the treasury function, including cash flow forecasting, payment authorization, and borrowing covenant calculations.
- Prepare financial reports for partnerships, joint ventures, and draft consolidated financial statements.
- Analytical and Insight Support:
- Support the annual budget process, including template creation, data reporting, and variance analysis.
- Perform variance analysis against plan for business unit performance and balance sheet fluctuations.
- Oversee project accounting, ensuring compliance with internal policies, regulations, and accounting principles.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field and a CPA designation.
- 5+ years of experience in an Assistant Controller or similar role.
- Experience in Waste Management, Environmental Services, and/or Construction industries preferred.
- Strong full-cycle accounting experience.
- Proficiency in Sage 300 and Microsoft Office 365 suite.
- Strong understanding of ASPE and generally accepted accounting principles.
- Supervisory experience is an asset.
- Experience with system implementation, change management, and financial modeling considered assets.
- Attention to detail with an emphasis on timeliness and accuracy.
