Overview:
Assist the Grow team in making sure all growth parameters are fulfilled and maintained throughout the growing season.
- Assist the grow team with determining tasks generated from the production schedule. i.e. crop placement, spacing, opening growing spaces,
- Monitor growing conditions and review changes in humidity, moisture, temperature, and cultivation procedures. Report to the Grow team and plan for necessary changes
- Apply plant health products as a preventative and/or reactive measure
- Inspect crops on a regular basis; remove substandard or diseased plants to maintain quality standards as time permits
- Routinely test water and soil for pH and ec levels
- Co-develop growing procedures for new species in product line and catalogue for future reference
- Along with the Grow team, maintain records of growing techniques and production.
Qualifications:
- Post-Secondary School diploma/degree or experience in horticulture preferred. Training will be provided
- Basic math skills for calculating proportions, percentages, and volume for the application of plant health products
- Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Positive trouble shooting skills
- Pesticide license required or willing to obtain certification within 3 months of hiring date
- Willing to assist in other departments as directed by Grow team and Human Resource Manager.
Work Environment:
- Conditions typically found in a greenhouse with high humidity and varying temperatures
- Physically able to bend, stretch, crouch, and lift above shoulders
- Standing, sitting and walking for prolonged periods of time may be required
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $18.00-$22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
