Assistant Grower/Greenhouse Worker

Family owned & operated since 1948, Bayview Flowers is a live plant grower, broker, and distributor that services supermarkets and big box retailers across North America. We are currently looking for an Assistant Supervisor in our Greenhouse.

This role has responsibilities in the headhouse and the greenhouse. Having responsibilities in both areas will require the position to prioritize and balance duties effectively and maintain frequent communications with the headhouse and the growing teams. The result should be an efficiently run operation and a healthy crop.

- Monitor plant well-being at all stages of crop growth.

- Conduct Integrated Pest Management (IPM) procedures following the IPM plan.

- Ensure proper irrigation and spraying

- Monitor the environmental system (Argus) and adjust as necessary in conjunction with the growing team

- Monitor and advise Grower on plant damage, potential disease, and pests

- Monitor hot spots as necessary.

- Greenhouse equipment maintenance.

- Small maintenance duties in the greenhouse, i.e. booms, jigs, etc.

- Take part in weekend and evening LVM duties on a rotating basis.

- Act as the backup Grower for vacation and absence coverage

- Consult with the Greenhouse Manager on tasks when growing responsibilities are complete.

-Tasks could include but are not limited to Planting, Packaging, Grading and Gathering

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $16.55-$20.00 per hour

Education:

• Secondary School (preferred)

Experience:

• Greenhouse: 3 years (required)
