Wages: Hourly wage to be negotiated based on experience.
Work Hours: 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, Mondays to Fridays, some Saturdays required, more so during the busy season.
Staff can expect to participate in:
- Assisting with all aspects of propagation and production related to native and ornamental plants. This will involve the daily/monthly/yearly production schedule as it relates to customer demand. General pest and disease knowledge is necessary with specifics aquired on the job. Supervision of the production staff and co-ordination with management are ongoing requirements that includes digging, cutting and dividing plants to prepare them for sale, seeding, transplanting seedlings and rooted cuttings, etc
- Field planting cuttings and divisions
- Order picking and tagging customer orders possible when necessary
- Confirming counts of material as required
- Scouting for insects and disease
- Assisting with greenhouse maintenance: covering/uncovering poly etc
- Perform housekeeping duties around work areas

We do work outdoors in all types of weather conditions, so please be prepared to dress accordingly. Duties above require a significant level of physical conditioning. Other requirements:
- Personal transportation required to and from work; we are not on a public transit route.
- Candidates must provide proof of an up-to-date tetanus shot before commencing work for exposure to field and potting soils.
- Must supply own CSA-approved footwear and suitable clothing for outdoor work (i.e. raincoat).
- Must be a resident of Canada
Assets for Application:
Previous experience gained in horticulture, greenhouse, nursery including additional skills obtained in landscaping and/or agricultural settings, familiarity with the operation of farm machinery, power tools, and safety procedures. Education in agribusiness, plant biology, pesticide and biological spraying, fertilizer applications and/or restoration ecology aids in a greater understanding of our ground cover production options available to the ever changing market needs.
