YOUR ROLE:
We're seeking an Assistant Site Superintendent for our project team in Canmore. The ideal candidate will oversee field team operations and ensure the safety of construction projects. In this hands-on position, you will direct, organize, control, and coordinate on-site activities to optimize field execution, productivity, and quality for assigned tasks.
KEY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Actively contribute to project profitability and schedule while maintaining specified project quality.
- Cultivate strong client and consultant relationships by addressing issues affecting project contracts, schedules, and scope of work.
- Efficiently manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Guide labourers and field personnel to ensure on-time, budget-compliant, and high-quality project completion.
- Assist in maintaining the construction schedule and promptly address any issues.
- Take charge of material procurement as needed under the Site Superintendent's guidance.
- Strictly adhere to drawings and specifications, maintaining quality control throughout all project phases.
- Keep the Site Superintendent informed of subcontractor personnel, work progress, and schedule concerns. Report safety violations promptly.
- Manage the site in the absence of the Site Superintendent and effectively communicate health and safety requirements to subcontractors and field personnel.
- Conduct safety orientations as required and ensure compliance with safety standards on the project site.
- Ensure that assigned field personnel are responsible for tools and equipment, verifying their proper operation and maintenance according to OHS and company standards.
- Maintain the schedule for all assigned tasks and contribute positively to the team environment.
- Identify and implement work processes and techniques that enhance productivity, coordinating with others as necessary.
- Regularly inspect critical project details for completeness and quality and maintain a daily activity log if necessary.
- Assist in creating deficiency lists and actively resolve deficiencies as required by the Site Superintendent.
- Participate in pre-occupancy walkthroughs as necessary to ensure project readiness.
- Follow standard operating practices, adhere to applicable specifications and regulations, and perform any other duties as directed by the Site Superintendent and Project Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3-5 years of experience in the construction industry.
- Proficiency in implementation of construction site safety and OHS policies.
- Experience in scheduling and quality control.
- Apprentice Carpenter certification is an asset.
- Must be proficient in the reading of drawings.
- Excellent Communication and Leadership skills.
- Ability to be flexible and manage effectively in a busy environment.
- Adaptable to changing priorities.
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
