Barista & Packaging Assistant

Overview:
We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Barista and Packaging Assistant, in our new Coffee Roastery & Coffee Lab in Burlington, ON.

This dual role involves both front-of-the-house responsibilities as a barista, and assisting in the packaging process in our specialty coffee roastery. The ideal candidate will have a passion for specialty coffee, excellent customer service skills, is ready to take initiative and can work independently.

Barista Responsibilities:

• Prepare and serve a variety of coffee beverages according to established recipes and quality standards
• Provide exceptional customer service by greeting customers, taking orders, and ensuring their satisfaction
• Operate espresso machines, grinders, and other equipment efficiently and safely
• Use POS system for order processing and payment transactions
• Handle cash transactions & operate the cash register with accuracy
• Effectively communicate to customers the available coffee beans for purchase
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the café area, including the retail, espresso bar and seating areas

Roastery Packaging Assistant

• Accurately assemble wholesale and customer orders for shipping
• Pick, pack, and ship online customer and wholesale orders in a timely manner, ensuring that the correct items are included and properly packaged
• Generate shipping labels and documentation using online order management system
• Package freshly roasted coffee beans according to specific order requirements and quality standards
• Operate packaging equipment, including bag sealers and labeling machines, safely and efficiently
• Ensure that all packaged coffee bags are properly sealed, labeled, and dated before distribution
• Monitor inventory levels to ensure sufficient stock levels for supplies, and coffee
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in the packaging area, including equipment and storage spaces
• Help with general cleaning of roasting, packaging and retail areas as needed

Requirements & Skills:

• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to engage with customers in a friendly and professional manner
• Previous experience in coffee or food industry is preferred but not required
• Interest in learning more about all aspects of specialty coffee
• Detail oriented, proactive and willing to take initiative
• Positive attitude and team player
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $18.00-$21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
