CHILD AND YOUTH WORKER
DAY TREATMENT PROGRAM Mount Albert Program
FULL TIME POSITION
The Child and Youth Worker, reporting to a Day Treatment Coordinator, is an integral part of the day treatment program, working closely with a program classroom Teacher and the larger team of CYW’s and Teachers to maintain a therapeutic environment that addresses the academic, social and emotional needs of students. The primary focus of this role is to assist children to develop their self-esteem and social skills, to learn to build meaningful relationships and to modify dysfunctional behaviours. The Child and Youth Worker in day treatment also works directly with families and school board personnel to ensure consistent communication and treatment planning.
Education and Experience:
The Child and Youth Worker will possess a Child and Youth Worker diploma from a recognized Community College or a Bachelor of Arts degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Other Requirements:
- Up-to-date Vulnerable Sector Screening
- Formal Crisis Intervention Training
- Possess a valid Ontario Driver’s License and access to a reliable motor vehicle
- Work from mid-August to July 31 annually and report to work daily, in keeping with the school calendar, Monday through Friday 8:15 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.
- During July, work as part of an integrated team to help facilitate a three to four-week summer program with other staff and teachers

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as observation and assessment skills
- Excellent organizational, planning and time management skills
- Be familiar with computers for the purposes of data entry, information sourcing and report writing
