Construction Site Supervisor

Log Project Management (part of the True North Log Homes Inc. Group of Companies) is looking for a Construction Site Supervisor to join its rapidly expanding team. As a Construction Site Supervisor, you will perform a crucial role in overseeing all day-to-day aspects of our construction projects; ensuring that trades and contractors are building our customers’ custom log homes, on time, within budget, and in line with our industry-leading patented log home system. The Construction Site Supervisor will work closely with our Construction Manager and Project Manager to ensure that all project goals are achieved, that our customers are fully satisfied, and that Construction Sites operate both safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities:

• Assists the Project Manager in planning and scheduling construction projects for our customers once the design stage has been finalized.
• Supervises trades and contractors on-site; assigns tasks and communicates directions to trades and contractors in collaboration with the Project Manager.
• Oversees daily operations at the Construction Site, ensuring adherence to site safety protocols.
• Maintains the highest standard of quality control throughout all stages of construction, conducting regular evaluations and promptly identifying and addressing any deficiencies.
• Ensures Construction Sites are equipped with the materials and resources that are required for completion of a project.
• Monitors the progress of projects and the performance of trades and contractors at the site; updates the Project Manager and Construction Manager with any concerns affecting the timely completion of the project.
• Manages and maintains Construction Site documentation, including daily logs – site conditions, trade delays, issues, safety reports, and progress reports etc.
• Assists the Project Manager in creating progress/update reports for our customers.
• Addresses and solves any potential problems that may arise on Construction Sites to ensure that projects remain on track.
• Inspects projects post-completion in collaboration with the Construction Manager to ensure the finished product meets all requirements.
• Ensures Construction Sites are prepared for municipal building inspections.
• Performs physical labour work, carpentry work etc. to complement the work of trades and contractors on-site, where needed.
• Ensures Construction Sites are clean, tidy and are free from hazards.
• Represents the Project Manager in meetings, when required.

Skills and Qualifications:

• The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in a similar role in the construction industry. However, training and mentorship will be provided to the successful candidate.
• Post Secondary Certificate in a relevant field – construction management, architectural technology etc. is considered an asset.
• Good understanding of the construction industry; the ability to read blueprints, design drawings and schematics.
• Excellent oral and verbal communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to continuously encourage and motivate others towards completion of targets and goals.
• Must be an excellent team player. The role will require the successful candidate to be adaptable to changing circumstances as well as the need to consider different perspectives/ways of completing tasks and projects.
• Strong project management skills and the ability to work independently.
• The candidate must be able to work in a deadline-driven, high-pressure, work environment.
• Excellent problem-solving ability. The ability to make decisions and execute on them quickly.
• A valid First Aid Training Certificate, or willingness to obtain one.
• As this position will require the candidate to drive to Construction Sites daily: the successful candidate must possess a valid Ontario Drivers License.
