DUTIES:

  • Reporting to the Assistant Manager or designate, this position will assist with operations, maintenance and equipment associated with a community recreation facility.
  • This position will be responsible for assisting in the training of staff in customer service, policies, procedures, and on legislation pertaining to facility operations.
  • Will schedule, book and issue permits for seasonal rentals, user groups, and special events.
  • Will assist, in conjunction with relevant service areas and organizations, with maintaining guidelines, allocation policy, and procedure manuals.
  • Will contribute to furthering corporate goals and objectives by assisting with departmental and cross-divisional projects.
  • Will ensure compliance with relevant Collective Agreements and Corporate policies.
  • This position will support the Assistant Manager in overseeing revenue sources including but not limited to rentals, events, and recreation programs at the designated recreation facilities.
  • Assists with responding to customer service comments and feedback via telephone, email, 311, and in person.
  • Assists with supervision of staff; payroll and scheduling, staff recruitment, and budget research.
  • Assists in the development of partnerships and community collaboration as well as funding and revenue-generating opportunities.
  • May be the first point of contact in an emergency or customer service situation.
  • On-call and coverage responsibilities will be a component of the position.
  • Will coordinate with Supervisors and Assistant Managers for operational support as required.
  • Will perform Occupational Health & Safety duties as outlined in the Corporation’s Health and Safety Program.
  • Will perform other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must have a University degree in Recreation, Human Kinetics, Physical Education, Business or Public Administration or other related field or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency and a minimum of two (2) years of experience in customer service, staff supervision, recreation programming, and facility operations; OR
  • Must have a post-secondary school community College diploma in Recreation, Human Kinetics, Physical Education, Business or Public Administration or other related field or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency and a minimum of four (4) years of experience in customer service, staff supervision, recreation programming, and facility operations; OR
  • Must have an Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma or Ministry of Education equivalencies and a minimum of ten (10) years of experience in customer service, staff supervision, recreation programming, and facility operations;
  • Successful completion of ORFA Basic Refrigeration is considered an asset.
  • A working knowledge of the ActiveNet computer software program is considered an asset;
  • Must possess well-developed written and oral communications skills, and interpersonal skills to maintain effective relations with community agencies, stakeholder groups, the general public and municipal staff;
  • Must have the ability to travel to off-site locations in a timely and expedient manner as required. If method of travel is by vehicle, a current valid and lawful Driver’s License is required in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act and must provide a driver’s abstract as a condition of employment;
  • Must have operating knowledge in the Microsoft Suite of Products, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, in a computerized environment;
  • Should have knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, its regulations and knowledge of the hazards associated with work.
