As a Customer Service Advisor, you will be responsible for working on accounts and depositing funds on a timely basis in order to facilitate The City's cash flow. This position is in a high pressure public service area and must be able to attend to customer's needs by using multiple cash related systems on different computer platforms. Primary duties include:
Maintain a cash drawer and balance float daily.
Receive cash, cheques and or debit card tenders by the public as payment of a service.
Access multiple internal cash related customer information systems to complete the payment transaction.
Respond to in person inquiries from the public providing information related to City programs and services as well as other related resources.
Prepare bank deposits and maintain cash records allocating funds received to the appropriate accounts.
Submit end-of-day files when all payments are processed.
Use proper security procedures to safeguard City funds.
Perform related office tasks as requested.

Qualifications
A High School diploma or equivalency (e.g. GED) plus at least 2 years of recent cashier and/or banking experience involving the handling of large volumes of cash on a daily basis.
Previous experience with an electronic based cash register is required.
Cash handling experience should be within the last 5 years.
Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) is essential.
Previous office experience involving data entry to PeopleSoft Human Capital Management (HCM) will be considered an asset.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated customer focus.
Well developed planning and organizational skills along with proven work standards, and mathematical ability.
High attention to detail, stress tolerance, and the ability to work effectively and prioritize work in a fast paced, high volume environment.
Working Conditions: Potential exposure to verbal abuse from angry customers.
