The Participation House Project (Durham Region) is seeking candidates for full time overnight awake and overnight asleep positions.

Accountable to the Service Manager or designate the Overnight Asleep and Overnight Awake Staff provides support during the night and early mornings to ensure the health, personal welfare, and safety of individuals with disabilities.
The Overnight Asleep Staff may sleep during a portion of the night, however, is expected to wake and provide services to people receiving services as required.
The Overnight Awake Staff remains awake throughout the entire shift.
Major Responsibilities
Ø Provides assistance and support during the night and early mornings to people receiving services including personal care.
Ø Follows assigned routines regarding provision of personal care and hygiene as necessary for people receiving services.
Ø Follows established protocols to administer and record prescribed medication and treatments as per instructions from medical practitioner and follows the agency’s Medication Policies and Procedures.
Ø Follows and documents completion of established overnight routines including but not limited to routine bed checks, checking water temperature, safety checks etc. according to established procedures.
Ø Follows assigned overnight responsibilities to ensure the cleanliness of the residence and as such performs housekeeping activities and completes any outstanding chores, which have not been completed by the previous shift.
Ø Inspects, monitors and ensures all safety aspects are in place for safe overnight operation.
Ø Completes required documentation such as daily logs, charts, check offs, communication book.
Qualifications and Requirements:
· Health Care Aide Certificate, PSW other relevant post-secondary education in personal care delivery or completion of high school with one year of full time working experience in a related field.
· Experience pertaining to working with individuals with disabilities is preferable.
· Valid Ontario Driver’s license
· Valid certificate in First Aid and CPR
· Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing English a minimum at Level 6 of Canadian Language Benchmark
· Police Check - Vulnerable Sector Search
· Medical note stating that candidate is free form Hep B, TB and other communicable diseases.
