Looking for an individual to provide support for a 25-year-old male in his home and within his community. This role would be best suited for someone who is patient, reliable and can provide thoughtful and sensitive accompaniment.
Supporters are encouraged to enjoy time together including games, music, chatting, singing, neighborhood walks, visiting the local shops and restaurants etc.
Hours: You will need tobe available 3-4 evenings per week 4-8 p.m. Tuesday/Wed or 4-9 on weekends (some Fridays and Sundays)
Personal care is involved during each shift. Use of a power wheelchair, Hoyer lift, and a communication device are expected. training provided. A Driver’s License isn't required for this role but you will be expected to use public transit.
As his Support Worker, you posses a willingness to learn, have strong observation and communication skills and can follow the lead and direction of the family.
Some of the supportive duties required include: Personal Care, Alternative Communication Devices, Participation in Community Events and Activities.
Must be comfortable with a dog in the home (very friendly).
Interests: Music (especially live music), swimming, outdoor walks, good company, good food.
**This is a self-employed Independent Support Worker position. This position works directly with a family and all scheduling and training is family lead**
