As an Engagement and Research Analyst with Emergency Management & Community Safety (EMCS), you will support business improvement projects that are managed on behalf of Optimization Services. You will be responsible for proactive, targeted and regular engagement work for the business unit. Primary duties include:
- Execute background research on projects including data analysis, best practices and lessons learned from other municipalities.
- Coordinate and execute ongoing, regular partner engagement opportunities within EMCS including Transit Public Safety, industry, the public and special interest groups. Liaise with The City¿s Customer Service & Communications Engage Resource Unit to develop innovative approaches to engage and connect.
- Support team members with quantitative and qualitative research, analysis, and summarize findings across a range of topics in order to prepare Council reports, Council briefing notes and additional internal/external documents.
- Work on multiple projects simultaneously with various project teams.
- Act as the point of contact for receiving inquiries and suggestions from citizens and industry in relation to EMCS lines of service and/or divisions. Provide information to the appropriate division and report back to the customer on the status of their inquiry.
- Coordinate public opinion research and targeted engagement sessions for specific EMCS Notice of Motions and projects.
Qualifications
- A degree in Business, Public Administration, Economics, Law, Political Science or a related field and at least 3 years of progressively more responsible public policy experience, preferably in a government setting.
- Experience in business writing, facilitation and engagement methods, and statistics is required.
- Previous experience in developing surveys, interpreting data, reporting on results and creating recommendations is also required.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Advanced communication skills, critical thinking, ability to analyze and problem solve, strong research and planning skills and demonstrated political acumen.
