Digital Design and Delivery (DDD) leads the development of the next-generation of digital public services for the Government of Alberta. DDD partners with other departments to deliver products, platforms and services that are better, faster and easier, through modern user-centered agile processes. DDD offers potential candidates a unique opportunity to work on meaningful challenges that transform government and positively impact Albertans.
The Strategy and Operations branch within DDD is accountable for the frameworks and processes to implement and scale digital service transformation. The branch leads the development of digital services standards and governance and strengthening partnerships between government and external communities.

Role Responsibilities

The Outreach Research Analyst reports directly to the Director of Outreach. Responsibilities for this role include:

  • Determining the methods for data collection to ensure the right tools are used and only relevant data is gathered.
  • Identifying and leveraging linkages to existing research across the department to tie in outreach rather than duplicate efforts (e.g., emerging technologies).
  • Collaborating with division staff to ensure coordination and integration of research activities.
  • Maintaining awareness of relevant international, national and provincial initiatives to inform specific outreach strategies.
  • Completing primary and secondary research to inform Ministerial operations.
  • Analyzing information and data to make informed conclusions and determine applicability of industry research.
  • Planning and completing environmental scans of similar jurisdictions and industry in relation to Alberta's digital context.
  • Reviewing previous data for comparison and determining the trends.
  • Developing research reports, briefing notes, presentations or other documents to distribute or present key information and supporting decision-making processes with internal staff, senior leaders and stakeholder.
  • Advising management on potential strategies to implement per the research.
  • Communicating economic and financial impact that may result from changes.
  • Collaborating with management to formulate implementation strategies.Developing responses to action requests, preparing briefing notes and reviewing communication releases.

Qualifications

University degree in a related field, such as Business, Arts, or Technology, plus 2 (two) years of progressive experience related to digital delivery and user-centered approaches; or equivalent as described below.
Equivalencies:
Directly related education or experience considered based on:

  • 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or1 year of experience for 1 year of education.


Requirements:

  • Theoretical and applied knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, data analyses, and results presentations.
  • Experience with computer applications and skills related to research (e.g., databases, presentations, statistics programs).
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize information drawn from disparate sources, making recommendations based on findings, and presenting the information in a variety of written formats to various audiences.Ability to apply the principles of user-centered analysis and its importance to user-centered design.


Assets:

  • Knowledge of Agile delivery approaches.Knowledge and understanding of department and division priorities related to outreach and digital transformation
